A lorry transporting a large number of hens has caught fire near Moy this evening (Sunday).
There were reports of a loud bang before the transporter went up in flames along the Benburb Road.
Smoke can be seen billowing into the air for miles around.
Sadly, a large number of hens can be seen leaping from the inferno in a desperate attempt to save their own lives.
The NI Fire and Rescue Service have been tasked to the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “The Benburb Road in Moy is currently closed between The Square and Moy GAA pitch due to a vehicle fire with a large number of live animals aboard.
“A recovery operation is underway and is likely to last a number of hours. We would respectfully ask people to avoid the area at this time and would advise members of the public that qualified vets are on scene and dealing with the matter and that no further assistance is required.”
