Man accused of causing injury by careless driving to face Crown court in New Year

He was released on his own bail of £500 to appear at Newry in January

Armagh Courthouse

A Middletown man accused of causing grievous bodily injury after driving carelessly will face the Crown Court in the New Year.

Court heard that the alleged offence occurred on September 2, of last year, on the Monaghan Road in Middletown.

Chris McCann, 25, Church Street appeared at Armagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Standing in the dock, McCann made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.

Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence solicitor Jarlath Fields made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Paul Copeland stated: “I am satisfied this is such.”

McCann was released on his own bail of £500 to appear at Newry Crown Court for arraignment on January 14.
