A Newry man has denied stealing £1,000 worth of goods from an Armagh supermarket earlier this year.
Bernard Francis Ward, of The Demesne, denied the single count of theft when he appeared in the dock at Newry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
The 42-year-old pleaded not guilty to stealing shopping trolleys with cases of food trays to the value of £1,000, opting to contest the charge in the Magistrates’ Court.
District Judge Eamon King questioned: “Has he seen the CCTV?”
The prosecution said the footage was en route to their office having been requested some time ago.
She added: “We’ll make that available to the defence.”
The case was adjourned until October 25 when a date will be fixed for contest.
District Judge King further suggested for the defendant to view the CCTV in the meantime.
