An Armagh man accused of stealing from two cars in the city over the weekend has appeared in court.
William Ward, of Railway Street, appeared before Newry Magistrates’ Court on Monday accused of two counts of theft from a vehicle and one of possessing a flick knife.
The 18-year-old was arrested on Sunday following the alleged thefts in the Drumbreda Avenue area of the city.
It is alleged that Ward broke into a black Audi and stole £1,500 in cash before breaking into a white Volkswagen Golf and stealing a pair of Air Pods.
According to police, Ward made off in the direction of St Brigid’s Hill but was apprehended following a short pursuit.
District Judge Eamon King refused bail due to a risk of reoffending.
Ward was remanded into custody at Hydebank and the case was re-listed for June 3 at Armagh magistrates’ Court.
