A man accused of stealing over £1,100 worth of clothing from a Sports Direct store in Armagh will face Crown Court proceedings later this year.
Paul Gerard Shields, with an address at Almond Drive in Dunmurry, appeared via videolink for a preliminary enquiry hearing at Armagh Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Newry.
The 38-year-old is charged with a single count of theft, alleged to have occurred on November 30, 2023.
The charge states that Shields stole clothing to the value of approximately £1,105 from Sports Direct on the Moy Road in Armagh.
During the hearing, it was confirmed that there is a prima facie case to answer.
The defendant declined to comment on the charge or to call evidence at this stage.
Shields was remanded in custody and is set to be arraigned at Newry Crown Court on September 11.
