A man who is alleged to have sent a false Bulgarian licence to the DVA to obtain a Northern Ireland equivalent has appeared in court.
The district judge ruled that the 30-year-old, who moved to Armagh three-and-a-half years ago, would be disqualified while the case was prepared.
Petar Kirchev Mihaylov, of Abbey Street, Armagh appeared charged with using a false instrument with intent at the city’s Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
It was heard that on November 8, last year, the defendant was accused of using a Bulgarian driving licence which he knew to be false with the intention of inducing the DVLNI to accept it as genuine in order to obtain a Northern Ireland licence.
A constable said he believed he could connect Mihaylov to the charge.
Defence solicitor Conor Downey made no contrary submissions.
Mr Downey informed the court that the defendant had been residing in Northern Ireland for around three-and-a-half years.
The case was adjourned until July 23 for an update on the file.
District Judge Paul Copeland released Mihaylov on his own bail of £500 and added that the defendant was to be “disqualified from driving until a further order is made”.
