Man and woman accused of making and possessing indecent images of children

A man and a woman accused of making and possessing indecent images of children will have their case heard at the crown court in the New Year.

The prosecution in the case outlined the details of when the crown court trial will commence following a preliminary enquiry at Armagh Magistrates’.

The court has imposed a reporting restriction on naming the two accused, who appeared together in the dock on Tuesday, at this stage.

The first defendant, 43, stood charged with 32 counts of making indecent images of children, six counts of possessing an indecent photograph, three counts of possession of an extreme pornographic image, two counts of voyeurism, two counts of attempting to distribute indecent photographs and two counts of possession of a prohibited image of a child.

The co-defendant, 30, faces three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, 10 counts of making indecent images of children, gross indecency towards a child, inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and 10 counts of voyeurism.

Prosecution stated that there was a prima facie case to be answered.

No contrary submissions were made by either defence barrister.

District Judge Paul Copeland stated that the case would continue on indictment and ordered that it be returned to Newry Crown Court on January 10 for arraignment.
