A man appeared in court in Armagh on charges relating to the murder of prison officer David Black.

Damien Joseph McLaughlin, 41, appeared before magistrates in the city earlier today (Tuesday).

A 41-year-old was extradited from the Republic of Ireland and was arrested in Armagh by detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch.

He was arrested by the PSNI on four separate counts of: aiding and abetting murder; membership of a a proscribed organisation; commissioning and instigating preparatory acts of terrorism; and committing and assisting acts of terrorism.

He has been remanded in custody until January 12.

McLaughlin, of Kilmascally Road, Dungannon, skipped bail late last year and fled to the Republic.

He was on bail at an address in west Belfast but when police called last December he could not be found and milk in the fridge was four weeks out of date.
