
A man has been arrested after the window of a bank in Armagh city centre was badly damaged on Wednesday morning.
The 33-year-old was arrested after a window belonging to Santander bank on Upper English Street was attacked at around 6:00am.
Officers attended the scene and the suspect was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
He remains in custody at this time.
Anyone with information which could assist with the investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 182 of 22/04/24.
As a result the bank was closed for the day, with a note in the window citing “unforeseen circumstances”.
Santander bank announced the closure of its branches in Armagh, Portadown and Dungannon as part of plans to “”update its branch network from June 2025 to better serve the changing needs of its customers”.
The Armagh branch will close its doors for the final time at 3pm on July 1, 2025.
