A man was arrested in Armagh on suspicion of attempted murder of a woman in Dungannon on Saturday morning.
Police arrested the man following the incident which left a woman with a significant leg injury.
Chief Inspector Graham Dodds said officers were called to a property in the Altmore Drive area at around 11.30am on November 1, after reports that a woman had been seriously hurt inside the home.
“Officers attended and administered first aid until colleagues from other emergency services arrived,” he said.
“A woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment.”
Following a series of enquiries, police arrested a man, also aged in his 40s, in the Armagh area.
A large police presence was detected in the Railway Street area of the city – bringing traffic in the area to a standstill.
The suspect was detained on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody, assisting detectives with their investigation.
Chief Inspector Dodds added: “Our investigation is ongoing, and I would appeal to anyone who has any information to contact police on 101, quoting reference 723 of 1/11/25.”
