A 33-year-old man appeared in court this morning (Tuesday) charged with the murder of Victor Hamilton in Ballymena last week.
Mario Menezes, with an address of Portmore Street in Portadown, appeared by videolink before Antrim Magistrates’ Court – sitting in Ballymena – accused of a single count of murder.
The body of the 63-year-old victim was discovered on the driveway of his home in Orkney Drive of Ballymena on Wednesday, July 27.
Menezes only spoke to confirm he understood the charge against him.
A PSNI detective constable said he believed he could connect the defendant to the charges.
No bail application was lodged on the defendant’s behalf at this stage, however, it was intimated that an application for bail was forthcoming.
District Judge Peter Prenter adjourned the case until August 25 with Menezes set re-appear via videolink.
On Monday, co-accused Mamadu Saido Djalo, who was arrested in Armagh but with an address of Springfield Crescent in Belfast, appeared via videolink at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Ballymena on the same charge.
He was remanded in custody to reappear next Monday, August 8, for a bail application.
