A man caught driving an Aston Martin more than 90mph outside Armagh has been fined £200.
Samuel Scott, of Knockdarragh Park, Lisburn, was also handed six penalty points and made to pay a £15 offender levy at a hearing before Armagh Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry Courthouse on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old was charged with driving with excess speed.
The court heard that on May 30 this year the defendant was caught driving the Aston Martin vehicle at 93mph in the climbing lane on the Markethill Road outside Armagh.
The speed limit in the area is 60mph.
District Judge Anne Marshall read a letter from Scott, who has no record, stating he is “sincerely remorseful” for the incident, which occurred when he was travelling from a wedding to a dinner and was “worried about finding the reception”.
Judge Marshall added that the defendant is involved in an exotic car group, with the car being used for a range of charitable activities.
She imposed the fine and penalty points and warned, “any further infringement and he’s off the road”.
