Officers from the PSNI’s Auto Crime Team have charged a man to court after drugs with an estimated street value of £2 million were seized when allegedly en route to County Armagh.
The charge is in connection to the recovery of suspected herbal cannabis in the Dargan Road area of Belfast on Thursday.
The 25-year-old has been charged with being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug, possession of a Class B controlled drug and possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply.
He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning.
As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
Earlier, police said they believed the drugs haul had been destined for the Armagh, Lurgan and Portadown areas.
Alongside colleagues from the UK Border Force, officers stopped and search a heavy goods vehicle in the Belfast Harbour area shortly after 10:30pm.
During the proactive policing operation, suspected herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of around £2 million was located concealed in a trailer.
