A man accused of causing the death of an Armagh teenager handed himself into police at court this afternoon (Tuesday).
Damien Paul McCann, 30, of Monaghan Road, Armagh is one of two men accused of causing the death of teenager Lesley-Ann McCarragher last year.
An arrest warrant had been out for McCann after he was due to appear in court almost three months ago, however, he appeared before a sitting of Armagh Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
He is charged with causing death by dangerous driving on April 9 last year, along with his co-accused Nathan Finn, who has been present since his arrest.
Lesley-Ann was struck by a car on the Monaghan Road close to her home in Milford.
She had been out jogging when the incident happened.
She was airlifted to hospital but passed away as a result of her injuries.
Despite an application for bail from McCann defence lawyer, the judge refused – siding with police – that it was too much of a risk given his evasiveness to date.
The two defendants will appear back in court together later this month.
