Man has money and wallet stolen during mugging in Armagh

A man in his 50s was mugged and had his money and wallet stolen on the outskirts of Armagh City.

The incident happened last Wednesday evening, in the Loughgall Road area of the city.

Police today (Thursday), issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

It is understood that, at around 9pm, the man was hit from behind.

The assailant then took his wallet and cash.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Constable Gibson said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Armagh Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1176 of 16/11/16.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
