Two Armagh men and seasoned marathon runners will not let this year’s cancellations deter them from going the distance.
For Matt Nicholson and Clive Nesbitt will be completing a marathon – with proper social distancing protocols of course – for a very worthy cause.
The two intend to stage what they have branded the ‘Not The Belfast Marathon’ on Sunday.
And they are urging the public to support them.
A GoFundMe page has been set up and it is intended to use the money to benefit local care homes in the area.
Matt and Clive, as ‘Run Armagh’, raise money for local and regional charitable causes.
They intend that that will continue this weekend.
Matt told Armagh I : “Clive and I are keen marathon runners. We’re never going to win but we enjoy it!
“Between us we have ran 314 marathons – myself 150 and Clive 164.
“We were both due to run Belfast on Sunday and thought we would do the distance ourselves and raise a few bob at the same time.
“We thought local care homes would be as good a cause as any right now.”
We can’t agree more.
Both promise that all the money will go directly to the frontline teams in “our wonderful care homes locally in Armagh”.
