Milford to host cross-community Carol Service for Christmas lights switch-on

Milford will herald the start of its own countdown to Christmas with a very special cross-community Carol Service.

The village will be preparing to switch on its Christmas tree lights this Friday, December 4, and all are invited to come along and share in this great occasion.Christmas_lights

The event is being organised by the hard-working Milford Community Development Association which has done so much for the residents of the historic mill village.

Milford has much to celebrate this year, as the people have witnessed the opening of a new and long-awaited play park. And the restoration of the grave of penalty kick inventor William McCrum, a native of Milford, has also been successfully completed.

Friday will be a time to reflect but to look too to the future – but above all to do it together.

The event shows the strong sense of community togetherness, neighbours and friends all, and it will be led by Rev Matthew Hagan and Fr Peter McAnenly.

Special music will be provided on the evening by Armagh Old Boys’ Silver Band, with the singing of traditional Christmas carols.

The festive occasion will get underway at 7.30pm and will be followed by refreshments in the Old School House.

A village with a proud and treasured past, a calendar depicting old scenes of Milford has also been produced and is available for sale.

The good folk of Milford would welcome all to come and share the joys of the season with them – and, we are reliably informed, even Santa has penned it in his busy diary!
