Motorists forced to remove dead sheep blocking main road into Armagh

Passing motorists stopped to clear hazard from carriageway

It is understood a number of sheep were killed after being struck by a vehicle on the outskirts of Armagh last night.

Four sheep were discovered dead on the main carriageway on the Newry Road on the outskirts of the city.

They were lying on the road close to the entrance to Edenaveys.

Motorists were forced to take fast evasive action to avoid further collisions.

One woman, travelling on the road at around 9pm on Friday night, said some stopped to remove the carcases which were causing a hazard to road users.

“There was a couple of cars that stopped and people got out and pulled them off the road,” she told Armagh I.

“There were four dead sheep lying across the road. It looked like they had been hit.”
