It’s a simple gesture but one that will mean so much to many parents – and children – in the most trying of times.
St Patrick’s Primary School in Armagh – situated on the Loughgall Road – have written to parents to tell them the school will cover the cost of school dinners for all its pupils.
One mum, who has two children that attend the school, was delighted by the school’s generosity and thought the school should be recognised for the gesture.
In a note to parents, the School said: “Christmas dinners will be provided this coming week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Any child who wishes will receive a Christmas dinner this week will be provided by the school. No child will be required to pay for their Christmas dinner.
“When booking dinners on Parent Pay, do not pay or book a dinner for the day your child is receiving Christmas dinner. School will attend to this.
“If you have already paid and booked for next week, we will sort that out and you will be credited on the system.”
The mum says it’s a little gesture that goes a long way, especially as we face a bleak winter in the middle of a cost-of-living-crisis.
“As a parent who is not entitled to free meals, it’s a lovely gesture and one less expense to worry about,” she said.
Well done to St Patrick’s Primary, Armagh!
