A mouth-watering new business will be served up on the site of the former Manor Park and 1868 restaurants in Armagh city later this summer.

4c Coffee House and Kitchen is expected to open its doors to the public on August 1 at the grand Georgian building sitting proudly at the foot of College Hill.

The site has sat vacant since the closure of the 1868 restaurant almost five years ago.

There had been previous attempts to re-open the venue in the interim – with an Italian restaurant once mooted – however, those plans fell by the wayside.

Maison Real Estate confirmed to Armagh I the premises have been sold after all these years with the new business venture a welcome boost for the city and hospitality industry currently fighting through a health pandemic.

The premises, next to the courthouse, are currently undergoing a complete revamp and modernisation – but all in keeping with the fantastic Georgian features in existence.

Proprietor George Corr has jumped into the project with enthusiasm, and the team at Maison Real Estate said they are delighted to see someone snap up one of Armagh’s most eye-catching building.

“George had no problem in taking on this project in the middle of a pandemic and of course Maison Real Estate are delighted to have agreed this let after all these years,” said a Maison spokesperson.

“George has snapped up one of the finest buildings in Armagh and we wish George every success at 4c Coffee House and Kitchen, 2 College Hill Armagh.”

The venue comes with its own wine cellar and a huge array of outdoor seating which will be perfect in a post-Covid environment.
