An overnight road closure will be in place from Monday as work starts on a resurfacing scheme at Portadown Road, Armagh.
The improvement work will extend for 0.9 kilometres, from the junction with Drumadd Road to the junction with Drummanmore Road.
It includes resurfacing with upgrading of road drainage and footway repairs.
It will be necessary to operate a road closure, overnights, from 6.30pm until 6.30am, from Monday, July 31, until Saturday, August 12.
The road will be open during daytime hours as well as through the nights of Saturday and Sunday, August 5 and 6.
An alternative route will be signed with traffic being diverted via College Hill, Rokeby Green, Mall West, Gaol Square, Barrack Hill, Hamiltonsbawn Road, Annareagh Road, Legacorry Road and Portadown Road.
Local access for residents and emergency services will be maintained although some minor delays may be experienced.
A DfI spokesperson said: “The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public.
“Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure.
“Completion of the work by 12 August 2023 is dependent on favourable weather conditions. The Department will keep the public informed of any change.
“All work will be carried out in line with current public health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.”
