A special event has been organised by the family of nine-year-old Conrad McBride to honour his memory and raise vital funds for three charities who “do so much to support children like Conrad”.
Conrad, from Tynan, sadly passed away suddenly on April 29, 2024 at The Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, described as a “special little angel”.
Now, three months on from their heartbreaking loss, his mother Carolann and brother Carter are celebrating his life by hosting a special charity fundraising night on Saturday, September 14 in The Commercial Bar, Middletown.
A JustGiving page set up to collate funds explained that Conrad – who was born with Down Syndrome and other medical conditions – lived “a very happy nine years and was very much loved and cherished”.
It continued: “We have decided to have a night in Conrad’s memory to raise money for some charities that are very close to our heart. We want to help spread a ‘smile’ in the lives of those who need it in Conrad’s memory.”
The charities set to benefit from the event include Children’s Heartbeat Trust, Clark clinic, which supports families and children with heart disease in Northern Ireland; Down’s and Proud, a Lurgan-based group who help children with Down Syndrome and act as a support for their families, and Irish Pilgrimage Trust Group 67, an organisation which brings children and young people with special needs on a week long pilgrimage to Lourdes.
All donations to the JustGiving page would be greatly appreciated by Conrad’s mum and brother who aim to raise a total of £3,000 – with each charity to receive an equal amount.
At the time of writing they have raised just over £1,700.
Those who are able to attend the event will enjoy a jam-packed evening of fun with music, dancing, food, drink and a raffle to pay homage to the memory of a wonderful and dearly loved little boy.
“We thank you in advance for helping us make this night special and raising as much money as possible for these fantastic charities,” said Carolann and Carter.
“We look forward to seeing you on the night.”
