Plans granted for 22 new homes in Milford

Milford Housing Development

Planning approval has been granted for the erection of 22 dwellings on lands between the Monaghan Road and Monaghan Street in Milford.

The housing development, to be built next to Milford Orange Hall, will include 20 semi-detached houses with three or four bedrooms, and two detached, four-bedroom homes.

Most of the dwellings will be accessed from Monaghan Street, with the exception of two units which will be accessed from Hill Street.

Outbuildings associated with 1a Monaghan Street will be demolished, and the planning application also includes new footpaths and pedestrian crossing points on Monaghan Street and Hill Street, and the relocation of existing road signs, planters, telegraph poles and lampposts.

The planning application was lodged by Studiorogers Architects Ltd, Coleraine, on behalf of Mr Paul Paynter, Ballymoney.

The planning application did prove controversial, with ABC planning officers noting in their report that 51 letters of objection had been received from 18 addresses, in addition to a petition of objection containing 13 signatures, and four anonymous objections.

Officers, however, are of the view that any material harm that the development would potentially give rise to can be offset through a number of measures, including improved road visibility.
