Police and Army Technical Officers are currently at the scene of a suspect device near Killylea.
A short stretch of the Elm Park Road has been cordoned off.
Armagh I understands that it follows the discovery of a suspicious object.
Residents in nearby homes had been urged to stay to the rear of their properties.
ATO is currently examining the scene, which is just off the main Killylea Road, about five miles from Armagh city.
A police spokesperson said: “Police are examining a suspicious object on Elm Park Road in Killylea in County Armagh. No homes have been evacuated however the road has been closed as a precaution.”
