Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was struck in a suspected hit-and-run in Armagh.
The incident happened on the Monaghan Road on the outskirts of the city around 12.30pm this afternoon.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “The Monaghan Road in Armagh will be closed for some time after a serious RTC involving a pedestrian and car at approximately 12.25pm today.
“Diversions are in place and police would ask anyone who witnessed this incident to contact police at Armagh on 101.”
The road will be closed at its junctions with Ungola Road and Baltarran Road.
A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said the young girl was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to seek alternative routes.
It remains unlikely that the road will be open again tonight.
There are no further details on the accident at present.
