Police across the borough have warned the public to be on their guard after reports of cold callers at various locations.

The PSNI in Armagh warned against such activity in Tandragee today (Wednesday).

Meanwhile, police in Craigavon responded to reports of cold callers approaching residents in Donaghcloney.

And an Armagh I reader has also contacted us to say she had reported to police cold callers offering to clear guttering in the Madden Road area of Armagh.

All of the incidents have taken place today.

The police in Armagh said they had received reports of two males cold calling in the Tandragee area. They were offering cleaning and power washing services.

They were last seen driving in a White Mitsubishi L200 pick-up type vehicle.

In Donaghcloney, police have received reports of individuals cold calling and offering knives for sale. They were sighted calling to the doors in the Main Street area of the village.

They were last seen driving in a red panel van.

In Armagh, a man in a light coloured jeep-style vehicle was called at houses in the Madden Road area offering guttering services, at around 2.30pm.

A PSNI spokesperson urged vigilance.

He advised: “Please be careful when dealing with callers to the door, always ask for ID, and if you entertain obtaining their services always ask for a written quote before any work or services is carried out.

“If you do happen to observe any vehicles acting suspiciously in the area or further afield do not hesitate to contact police on 101 or 999 if it is an emergency.

“These cold callers prey on elderly and vulnerable people in our area. Let’s help keep everyone safe.”
