Police investigation launched as man dies after falling into Armagh’s Folly River

A man has died after falling into the Folly River in Armagh on Sunday morning.

Police have launched an investigation to help ascertain the circumstances surrounding what they have described as the sudden death of a man in the Killuney Drive area.

Just before 2.30am, it was reported that a man had fallen into the Folly River.

Emergency services, including fire crews, attended and recovered the man from the water but sadly he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course to determine the cause of death.

Enquiries are continuing and officers would ask anyone with information which could assist with their enquiries to contact them in Armagh on 101 quoting reference number 307 08/08/21.

The fire service confirmed they had attended the scene but were unable to provide further details this morning.
