‘Reform’ your fitness with Armagh city’s new abs-olute workout studio

A true trusted name in the community, Strength and Tone Reformer Pilates -started by Paddy and Michaela Gray- are excited to launch their third studio in Armagh city!

A family-run workout business are excited to announce the third location of their new central Armagh studio – aiming to elevate your fitness – no matter what age you are!

Strength and Tone Reformer Pilates offer a specialised workout using low-impact movements to help aid injury recovery, strengthen muscles and overall improve fitness.

The business was started by Paddy and Michaela Gray. Living in Australia at the time, Paddy suffered from a back injury and tried various forms of treatment and rehab to help aid his recovery – alas nothing working. That was until he began taking reformer pilates classes in the land down under.

Quickly realising how the ‘mind-body exercise’ helped his recovery and the great impact it had on his overall wellbeing – Paddy came home to Ireland and completed a Mat Pilates course in Dublin before making the trip to England to train in Reformer Pilates. With Michaela completing her training soon after.

The couple spent years practicing pilates and forming a love for the benefits the exercise had to their overall wellness before taking the leap and opening their own studio!

The first of it’s kind in the area – Strength and Tone Reformer Pilates opened their first location in Tassagh, co Armagh, in 2019 –  From they first opened their doors, demand exceeded expectations with clients travelling from all over to try out this unique workout.

With classes booked up instantly and cancellation waitlists at a max, Paddy and Michaela opened their second studio location in Castle Blaney, co Monaghan to serve growing demand and bring their expertise further afield.

A true trusted name in the community, Strength and Tone are excited to launch their third studio in Armagh city!

Conveniently located in the heart of Armagh city Centre in Armagh Shopping Centre, the new studio offers ten reformer machines – keeping classes intimate so each member receives guidance through all movements.

Reformer Pilates is a low-impact exercise where movements are made to target different muscle groups. The reformer machine is a flat bed comprising of a rolling carriage and foot bar along with springs and straps which are adjustable to resistance.

Reformer Pilates has a range of health and wellbeing benefits which Michaela describes as a ‘full body and mind connection’ with each movement. The exercises help to aid rehabilitation from injury, build strength, relieve stress, enhance flexibility, strengthen core muscles and overall helps to improve balance and co-ordination.

Each reformer is equipped with additional equipment such as dumbbells, Pilates balls, circles, and poles which can be customized to workouts to increase intensity.

Reformer Pilates is perfect for all whether you want an intense, core gaging workout or rehabilitation exercises, the team at Strength and Tone can help adapt each workout to suit your needs and capabilities.

The low-impact nature of the exercises makes it a safe for everyone, while the customizable equipment ensures that each workout is tailored to individual capabilities.

Classes are suitable and inclusive for everyone with all Strength and Tone studios welcoming clients of all genders, ages and fitness levels!

Each class involves a range of movements which start at beginner and progress to more advanced – with you working to the progression you are most able and comfortable with.

A range of classes are available including beginner, mixed, men only and over 55’s.

Working alongside Paddy and Michaela are 10 qualified instructors who all teach classes between the three studios.

And with classes flowing, the duo decided it was time to ‘push the business on’ and now offer training courses in both Mat and Reformer Pilates with a new training course beginning soon!

With expert guidance from Strength & Tone’s instructors, every client will be guided through each workout to ensure optimal opportunity to improve strength and experience a better mind-body connection.
