A resident of the Ardmore area of Armagh says nothing seems to be being done about persistent dog fouling.
The homeowner – who wished to remain anonymous – called Armagh I‘s office to voice her frustration for the problem that she says has been a “constant” scourge for many years.
She described the pavements as being “littered” with dog foul all the way from Jubilee Park up to Ballynahone cemetery.
Faeces can also be found along the grass verges along walkways and in the playing fields at Ardmore, she added.
“Pet owners should be responsible,” said the resident. “Why do people even get a dog if they can’t be bothered to pick up after it?”
The woman argues that ABC Council are also not taking the situation seriously and having contacted them herself requesting clean-up of the area, she feels entirely let down that to date she hasn’t seen any cleaning crews attend.
Putting it down to the laziness of pet owners, the woman explained there is a well-positioned bin mere meters from the entrance to Jubilee Park on the footpath… not that it seems to be well-used.
Armagh I contacted ABC Council for comment and are awaiting a reply, however, it is understood that there are plans in place for wardens to increase patrols in the area as a deterrent.
