John Morrow Decobrite

The founder of one of Armagh’s most popular and long-running stores has died.

Andrew John Morrow passed away peacefully at his home, Archdale, at Main Street, Killylea, on Wednesday.

Known to all as John, he opened Decorbrite in Armagh in 1969. He ran the business for many years before taking a back seat in more recent times with his son Timothy, who had been deeply involved in the day-to-day running for quite a while, stepping in.

The family-run store was a mainstay in the commercial heart of Armagh and offered a sterling service and value and professionalism to all.

Throughout the years of the Troubles, the Morrow family suffered damage to their premises on several occasions but they continued to trade and customers valued their friendship as much as their service.

It was very much a personal touch and that was the ethos on which the business was built; if an item was not available in store, the popular shop owner did everything in his power to secure it for you.

John Morrow was the driving force, a man who was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He personified fair play and his business acumen was renowned far and wide.

A man who also enjoyed spending time outdoors and tending to his gardens, his passing will represent a huge loss, not just within the business community in Armagh, and amongst his many friends, but for his family, where his absence will be felt most.

Mr Morrow was a much-loved husband of Annie and a dear father to Timothy.

Family flowers only are being requested but donations can be made in lieu, if desired, for Marie Curie Nursing Care, with cheques payable to same, c/o Trevor McCoy Funeral Undertakers, 77 Main Street, Killylea, Co. Armagh BT60 4LS.

To his wife, Annie, and son, Timothy, we extend our deepest sympathy at this time.
