Sinn Fein has proposed an excess waste collection service as an alternative to re-opening recycling centres across the borough.
Despite councils in Northern Ireland being given the authority to re-open if they feel it is safe to do so, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has yet to indicate whether or not it will.
There is divided opinion on that score.
But decision is expected to be taken shortly.
Ahead of that, however, Sinn Fein ABC council group confirmed on Friday evening it has made a specific proposal.
It has proposed the excess domestic waste collection service to “alleviate the pressure constituents find themselves under as a result of the continued closure of recycling centres”.
Speaking this evening (Friday), Sinn Féin Councillor Keith Haughian said: “The message of stay home stay safe has undoubtedly saved lives.
“We continue to reiterate the calls from NHS staff and front line workers to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel.
“Recycling centres will reopen when it is safe to do so.
“In the meantime, and as a way to minimise the inevitable tidal wave of people rushing to recycling centres when they do reopen, we are proposing that council provide a safe and manageable excess domestic waste collection service.”
