The funeral of a popular Co Armagh priest, whose untimely passing occurred earlier this week, will take place on Sunday.
Fr Brian White, who was from Tullysaran, had previously spent a short stint in Keady and Warrenpoint parishes.
Fr White, who passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, was the beloved brother of Geraldine, Feargal, Darina, the late Patricia (RIP), and loving son of the late Margaret and Patrick R.I.P.
His remains will repose at 19 Milltown Rd, Armagh, BT71 7NJ, this evening, Friday, from 6pm until removal on Sunday for 2pm ,ass, in the Church of Immaculate Conception Tullysaran. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.
Armagh parish announced Fr White’s death.
“It’s with great sadness that we share the passing of Fr Brian White, a priest of the Archdiocese of Armagh, a parishioner here in Armagh and a great friend to so many,” they wrote.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to Fr Brian’s brother, Fergal, sisters, Geraldine and Darina, the extended White family and all his friends and loved ones. May he rest in peace.”
Keady Parish added: “We are saddened to learn that Fr Brian White has died. Fr Brian served a short time in our parish but was so much well liked. May he rest in eternal peace.”
Fr White was a sports enthusiast and love his gaelic football and his local GAA club, O’Connell’s Tullysaran, paid tribute to one of their former players.
“It is with much sadness that we have learned of the passing of Father Brian White, a former player within our club.
“The committee and our members extend our deepest sympathies to Fr Brian’s brother, Fergal, sisters, Geraldine and Darina, the extended White family and all his friends and loved ones. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”
Tributes poured in from the many who encountered the affable Fr White over the years, near, far and wide.
Siolta Retreats posted: “The news of Fr Brian White White’s death has shocked and saddened all of us at Siolta Retreats. We have lost a great friend, who not only helped us form, but supported us in our ministry across parishes in the Archdiocese of Armagh and Clogher Diocese.
“Fr Brian gave us the name Siolta, a name he came across whilst studying for the priesthood in Maynooth. It is the Irish word for seeds and he was well aware that our mission field involved sowing fresh seeds of faith across Ireland where there were none, watering the seeds that had already been sown and helping the strong seeds of faith to continue to grow amongst our youth.
“In the early days when our team was being formed, Fr Brian was an instrumental part of making it all come to fruit. 20 years since our formation and the seeds are being sown daily.
“May the Lord look mercifully upon his soul, St John Bosco, patron saint of youth, intercede for him before the throne of God.”
Very deeply regretted by his loving sisters, brother, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, sister in law, brothers in law, friends, neighbours, Archbishop Eamon Martin, Bishop Michael Router, Cardinal Sean Brady, his fellow Priests and the parishioners of the parishes where Fr. Brian served.
