Six County Armagh pubs have been nominated for the county’s best – with four hailing from the city centre – in the 2022 Northern Ireland Hospitality Awards.
Keegan’s Bar, Toby Jug and Red Neds – all situated within 50 metres of each other on Irish/Ogle Street in Armagh – are in the running, alongside The Hole in the Wall at McCrum’s Court.
Digby’s in Killylea and Joe Mac’s in Portadown make up the other finalists, while the Courthouse Bar and Restaurant in Lurgan has been shortlisted for NI Bar of the Year.
Incidentally, The Courthouse picked up County Armagh’s Bar of the Year at the Uk-wide Pub and Bar Awards 2022 recently. The Lurgan venue is also in with a chance of winning the regional, and possibly, the UK’s best, at the official London awards ceremony on June 22.
Meanwhile, the NI Hospitality Awards will be held on Tuesday, May 10 at The Europa Hotel, Belfast.
A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Hospitality Awards 2022 said: “Working for the hospitality industry can be challenging at times and the last few years have shown that. These awards aim to recognise those who have succeeded in this sector, despite the difficulties. There are people who have dedicated their whole career in making the country a special destination for visitors. It is time to give those professionals the recognition they deserve.
“The awards will provide a platform to thank and honour those who have contributed to making Northern Ireland a friendly and welcoming place, enhancing the country’s reputation nationally and internationally. We would like to congratulate all the finalists for their nomination and wish them the best of luck.”
