
Tributes have been paid to a well-known and highly respected advertising manager following his sudden passing.
Robbie Abraham, the regional advertising manager for Alpha Media Group, which includes a remit over the Ulster Gazette in Armagh, Newry Democrat and Co Down Outlook in Rathfriland passed away at his home.
The Newry Democrat, based on Hill Street – where Robbie worked on a daily basis – led tributes.
“It is with a heavy heart that we convey the sudden death of our Regional Advertising Manager , Mr Robert (Robbie) Abraham,” they wrote.
“Robbie was based at our office at Hill Street in the city and was a highly respected member of the business community.
“He had dedicated his life to Newspapers and had managed many titles in over 40 years service to the industry.
“Robbie will be missed by his work colleagues; family and friends. Rest In Peace Robbie.”
Robbie started his Advertising Career back in 1986 with Johnston Publishing (then known as Morton Newspapers), managing all 10 of its weekly titles at various stages, as well as the Belfast News Letter and Derry Journal.
He joined Alpha Media in 2017.
Before advertising, Robbie was an account handler at Ulster Bank for five years. He also volunteered in a managerial role for Lisburn Business in the Community, where he was Chairman for a number of years, working with various local charities.
Others paid tributes to a man described as “a character and a gentleman” who had “a deep passion for his job and will be sorely missed by many”.
Another wrote: “Robbie was such a kind, friendly and funny character. It was a pleasure to work with him and he will be greatly missed by many.”
