A Co Armagh father-of-three died in a tragic accident while working as a landscaper in Mauritius.
Francis McCarville, from Hamiltonsbawn, was laying football turf on the island off the African coast last Wednesday when tragedy struck.
It is understood the Clive Richardson Ltd employee’s son was among the team of staff creating a new football pitch and was present when his father passed away.
Mr McCarville’s daughter Laura, on a social media post, said she was “heartbroken”.
“Your dad was one in a million Laura. I have some great memories of him. So sorry for you all,” one friend said.
Another commented: “Words cannot express how sad I feel for your loss. Your Daddy was a star, and will continue to shine on you all.”
Mr McCarville’s son William, who works for the same company, also told friends on social media that he is beyond “heartbroken”.
Councillor Jim Speers described it as an “unthinkable tragedy” adding that the entire family are all “completely devastated” by the loss.
“They are literally numb with grief. You think and hope it will never happen to you or someone you know, but this is an unwelcome reminder that it does,” he said.
A spokesperson for Clive Richardson Ltd said: “Francis was a dedicated employee who had been with the company for eight years.
“We offer our sincere condolences to Francis’ family and colleagues and will endeavour to provide all the support we can.”
Mr McCarville’s funeral service will take place in Aghavilly Parish Church tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2pm followed by interment in the adjoining churchyard.
A death notice said Francis was the beloved husband of Ruth, dear father of Laura, William, Louise, their partners Keith, Kerry and Adam and a devoted grandfather of Ryan, Zoe, Ella and Kloe, beloved son of Patricia and the late Patrick.
