Tributes have been paid following the passing of a hugely popular and highly respected Armagh taxi driver.
Malachy Lennon was a familiar figure across Armagh City and beyond.
For many years he worked at Callan Taxis on Thomas Street, where he was regularly to be seen collecting fares or returning to base.
Always with a smile on his face, Malachy had time for everyone and enjoyed nothing more than a bit of craic.
He was always joking and enjoying banter with anyone he met as he went about his day to day work.
The 64 year old had a great interest in the local GAA and in particular road bowls.
He had a wide knowledge of local sports generally and was always keen and enthusiastic to engage with others similarly minded.
His sudden passing earlier today has sent shockwaves across the entire community and especially within the Blackwatertown area.
An absolute gentleman and a local legend, his passing will leave a huge void in the lives of all those who have had the pleasure and privilege of knowing Malachy.
But it is within his own family circle that his passing will be most keenly felt, particularly for Philomena, his wife of 43 years.
As a mark of respect Callan Premier Taxis closed up today after learning of Malachy’s passing, sharing a photograph of their much loved colleague on social media with the words “Always in our memories”.
Tributes poured in for a man, clearly loved by many.
“You touched many hearts Malachy,” wrote one woman, “your generosity and kindness was limitless. A very sad day for all the family as we say goodbye to you. We love you and you will be in our hearts forever.”
Another posted: “The nicest man you could ever meet. We will miss your big smile and humour. Rest in peace Malachy.”
One man wrote: “RIP Malachy. Such a lovely man. Armagh has lost a good one.”
Many others expressed their shock and heartbreak at the news – losing one of life’s true gentlemen.
Funeral details are expected to be released soon. May he Rest in Peace.
