Tributes to ‘absolute gentleman’ as Armagh man passes away in hospital from Covid-19

Tributes have been paid to an Armagh man who passed away in hospital on Friday afternoon from COVID-19.

Kevin Toal, who had lived in the Newry Road area of the city, had many sporting connections in the city.

He was a member of both the City of Armagh Rugby Football Club and of Co Armagh Golf Club.

The City of Armagh RFC in a social media post said Mr Toal had “sadly passed away this afternoon in hospital at 4:15pm from Covid-19″.

It added: “Our thoughts our with Kevin’s Family, RIP.”

Mr Toal was married to Ronnie and was a father of four – Sharon, Gary, Fiona and Orlagh.

Expressions of sympthy and tributes have been paid to the popular Armagh man after news of his passing was confirmed this evening.

Lord Mayor Mealla Campbell said: “Such very sad news – my thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

“He was an absolute gentleman. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”

Due to Government guidelines, a private funeral will take place, with a requiem Mass at a later time.

To Mr Toal’s entire family circle, we extend our deepest condolences. May he Rest in Peace.
