Vigilance urged after overnight burglaries in Tassagh

Two overnight break-ins in Tassagh have left local families devastated after a large quantity of tools was stolen.

The incidents happened at around 3.10am on Sunday morning on the Ballybrolly Road.

A garage and workshop at one property was targeted, while a works van at a second home was also broken into.

According to SDLP Councillor Thomas O’Hanlon, a “considerable amount of tools” – including Milwaukee-branded equipment – were taken during the incidents.

“These are two hard-working people and this has left them devastated,” he said.

Cllr O’Hanlon appealed to anyone living in the area to review their CCTV or doorbell footage around the time of the burglaries.

“Those responsible are believed to have come in via either the Granemore Road entrance at the Rock Bar, or via Tassagh Road below my family home,” he explained.

He added: “If you have any information please get in touch and I can pass it on, or contact the police directly.

“It’s terrible to even have to ask, but please be vigilant. Keep garages and sheds locked, and if you can, avoid leaving valuable tools in vehicles overnight. Please share this message and be vigilant.”

Anyone with information can also contact police on 101.
