Torrential rain and thunderstorms are wreaking havoc across Co Armagh.
Motorists have found themselves battling biblical downpours with flood waters rising in many of the usual hotspots.
The main road between Armagh and Portadown is flooded in several areas so please exercise caution if you’re travelling along this route this evening.
A Yellow Weather warning is in place right into this evening with the Met Office saying the downfalls will potentially lead to severe flooding and disrupted infrastructure, as we’re already witnesses locally.
The NI Weather and Flood Advisory Service states: “Showers/thunderstorms will be torrential at times with large amounts of rainfall in short periods of time, leading to a risk of localised flooding. This risk is heightened following the heavy rainfall yesterday”.
Sudden wind gusts are also proving problematic as low pressure systems leave the weather pretty unpredictable.
Travel advice from the Met Office states: “If heavy downpours are expected, avoid starting your journey until it clears.
“If you can, choose main roads, where you are less likely to be exposed to fallen branches and debris and flooding.
“Keep an eye out for gaps between trees, buildings or bridges over a river or railway – these are some of the places you are more likely to be exposed to side winds.
“Ensure that you maintain enough room either side of your vehicle so you can account for it being blown sideways.”
