Armagh’s own Willie Nugent has confirmed over £3,000 has been raised from the sale of his latest festive book.
And what a Christmas cracker that will be for his three specially-chosen charities.
People from far and wide snapped up a copy of his sixth seasonal instalment, ‘Maisie Comes to the Rescue’, featuring the adventures of his own much-loved pet pooch.
The books had been on sale at shops around Armagh over the past weeks and all have now been sold.
As a result, more than £3,000 has been raised and will be shared equally by the Friends of the Cancer Centre Belfast City Hospital, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children Belfast.
Willie, needless to say, is delighted, and cannot thank everyone who supported his latest fundraising drive enough.
He said: “I would like to thank the people of Armagh and further afield for their never-ending support. It’s the one thing that keeps me fundraising.
“I have been told my book is now being read by kids in England, America, Canada and even Saudi Arabia!
“Thanks to my illustrator Simon Goodway, my sponsors Nugent and Gibney LTD , Trimprint and Armagh I for all their support and all the shops that helped sell my books. I couldn’t have done it without them.
“Happy Christmas from Willie and Maisie!”
