An Armagh woman who threw a block of wood at her partner smashing his car window has been fined £500.
Court heard the 30-year-old had been in a “fiery dispute” with her then other half when she “grabbed the first thing she could get her hands on”.
Rachael Hilditch, of Kilmore Meadows, pleaded guilty to criminal damage at the city’s Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Court heard that police were called on September 17 to Kilmore Meadows with the complainant stating his partner had thrown a wooden block, smashing the windscreen of his Mercedes C class.
Officers arrested the defendant who admitted to the offence during interview.
Hilditch told police it had been done out of “anger” and had been “reckless” rather than on purpose.
Defence counsel said this had arisen out of a “fiery dispute” where the defendant “grabbed the first thing she could get her hands on”.
He added that the intended target had been the complainant who she “fortunately” missed.
Court heard that Hilditch had no relevant record but did have some motoring offences.
The defendant was ordered to pay £96 compensation and a fine of £500, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within eight weeks.
