Armagh Council has confirmed that, like its counterpart in Craigavon, it too will cover the cost of car parking for Christmas shoppers in the city.
It was reported at the weekend that Craigavon councillors had voted in favour of picking up the parking tab for festive shoppers on Saturday, December 21. This covers all parks in Lurgan and Portadown on that day.
We asked through our Facebook page if our thousands of followers believed that Armagh City and District Council should follow suit, urging people to hit LIKE to show their support.
Scores of you believed this was the way to go and would help hard-pressed traders by encouraging people to come to, or stay in, the city for their Christmas needs.
Now Armagh Council has revealed that it will indeed cover the cost of parking in the city for shoppers.
And not just that, free parking will be provided on FOUR days, not just ONE!
Shoppers can now go about their business and enjoy all that Armagh has to offer on the next two Saturdays, December 14 and 21, as well as Monday, December 23 and even Christmas Eve.
City Centre Manager Claire Toner said it represented a great opportunity for people to do their Christmas shopping without watching the clock, safe in the knowledge they would be saving a few extra pounds over the holidays.
