A Banbridge-based animal rescue have issued a desperate plea for financial support as a high volume of “unexpected bills” has exhausted their emergency reserves and left them with a zero PayPal balance.
Wasting no time, a representative for Paws and People Animal Rescue posted a screenshot of the zero balance on social media on Wednesday October 2 in a bid to secure much needed public support.
They said: “I’m stressed and I’m exhausted, and I really need some help right now friends.
“I’m so sorry, but I don’t know what else to do right now.
“We have been hit with so many unexpected and very high bills, all at once, and honestly I feel like I’m drowning here.”
The representative explained how the constant and time-consuming supervision of “sickly” animals in their care has recently made it difficult to organise fundraisers.
However, as a small non-funded and non-profit home-run animal rescue, the increasing and unexpected costs have undoubtedly played a huge part in leading the organisation to its predicament.
“Due to unexpected emergency vet bills, unexpected vans breaking down and costing us over £1.5k in repairs, our PayPal is empty,” they added.
“And our bank account is not far behind.
“We had an emergency fund set aside, but it’s gone now.
“We have plenty of food right now and all the supplies the dogs need but what we really need is funds, as the sick pups vet bills are ongoing, alongside all other regular vet costs such as spays/neuters, vaccines etc.
“Please can you help us get through this rough patch?”
Paws and People have outlined a number of ways to make a donation including bank transfers to the charity account, direct to their PayPal account or cheques made payable to Paws and People.
