A Banbridge man has been accused of sexually assaulting and giving alcohol to children.
Michael Glendenning (53) from Windsor Terrace is accused of four counts of sexually assaulting two girls, as well as intentionally engaging in a sexual activity in the presence of one of them for his own gratification.
It is further alleged he caused these girls plus another two to be given alcohol.
Offending is alleged to have occurred on dates between 8 and 13 June.
A detective constable told Newry Magistrates’ Court the charges could be connected.
No details surrounding the circumstances of the alleged offences were disclosed during the short hearing at which Glendenning spoke only to confirm his identity and that he understood the charges against him.
A prosecuting lawyer said the case is very much in the early stages and a full file is in the process of being compiled.
Meanwhile a defence barrister informed the court there would be no application for bail at this stage.
District Judge Eamonn King remanded Glendenning in custody to appear again by video-link at Banbridge Magistrates’ Court sitting in Newry on August 15.
