A woman in her nineties was targeted by low-life criminals in Dromore during the early hours of this morning (Friday).
Police in Banbridge have described it as an “absolutely disgusting crime” and have appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.
At some point between 8.15pm last night and 2am this morning, a house in Mountview Drive was broken into.
Cash and jewellery were taken. A jewellery box has since been discovered on Weirs Row, which backs onto Mountview Drive.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “This suggests those responsible made off on foot, possibly to a waiting car on the Hillsborough Road or nearby.
“If you live in the area, saw anything during this time, particularly activity in the cut through between the two streets, or people running off, dropping anything, or getting into any vehicles, please call us immediately.
“If you have dashcam footage or have home CCTV which would cover that area, check it, and if there is anything, no matter how minor, which you believe could be even remotely connected [we] wants to hear from you.”
Call police on 101 with the reference number 197 of today. Alternatively you can speak anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The spokesperson added: “This is not fair. These crimes are obscene in every way. The answer will be out there, somewhere, and if we all work together on this, we have the best chance of getting justice for the victim.”
