A former furniture store in Banbridge could be set for a new lease of life as a restaurant and takeaway.
The premises was formerly occupied by Bedwin Soft Furnishings on Bridge Street.
A planning application has been lodged by Colin Johnstone, Cashel Hill, Castlewellan, who trades as ‘The Hatch’ and specialises in private events.
However, iit is unknown at this early stage what type of cuisine will be served up.
The applicant’s agent is R. E. Quinn Architects Ltd, Princes Street, Dromore.
The planning application states that Mr Johnstone is hoping to hire 12 members of staff, and anticipates around 50 daily customers.
The application was lodged on October 31.
Planners will now consider the application before making a decision, likely in the New Year.
If given the green light, it will be a welcome boost to the town centre offering.
