A popular local fun fair and amusements operator looks set to take up residence in Banbridge for a fortnight in June.
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council will decide tonight (Monday), whether or not to grant the use of Solitude Park in Banbridge for the attraction.
Bell’s Amusements Fun Fair had been given the go-ahead previously at Lurgan Park in August last year.
And now, given the success of that operation, it hopes to extend its ‘opening hours’ and reach to the public within the ABC borough.
Bell’s Fun Fair is seeking permission to hire the amphitheatre at Solitude Park.
Council officers are recommending that the request be granted, with councillors to make a decision at the monthly meeting this evening.
If approved, it would open in the evenings, after the park has closed, from 5pm until 9pm on weeknights, and from 2pm until 9pm at weekends.
A report to the monthly meeting of council advises: “All licensing requirements will be met and local residents will be notified.
“This operation will not impinge on normal park activities.”
The park would be in use between June 7 and 21, with three days to assemble and three days to pack away the various rides either side of trading to the public.
The report states: “Due to the successful trading by Bell’s Amusement Fun Fair attraction in Lurgan Park in August 2022, the operator would like to extend their attraction to other sites within the borough.”
