A fundraiser has been set up to help the family of a Gilford man ‘fighting for his life’ in Australia.

Conor Molloy, who is originally from the area, but currently lives in Australia is reported to be in hospital in a coma, with family members having travelled out to be with him.

The news of the fundraiser was shared by Gilford Amateur Boxing Club. In a post on Facebook, they said: “Unfortunately Gilford lad Conor Molloy is fighting for his life out in Australia… family have had to fly out to be at his bedside. Can we help make things a little bit easier financially together as a village and as a district.”

The GoFundMe was only set up this morning (Wednesday) but has already raised over £500.

Tullylish GAC said: “Your prayers are asked to help for Conor Molloy who is currently in a coma in Australia, his family have been in touch to ask that we remember Conor in our prayers that he makes a full recovery.

“Please remember Conor and his family at this most difficult time.”

Gilford Crusaders Football Club added: “The thoughts and prayers of everyone involved with Gilford Crusaders are with the family of our former player Conor Molloy who is currently fighting for his life in Australia.

“Please keep Conor’s family in your thoughts at this difficult time.”
