Investigation launched after arson attack on house during early hours of Sunday morning

Burnview Terrace, Banbridge

Police are currently investigating an arson attack on a house in Banbridge during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at Burnview Terrace in the town between 3.30am and 4am.

During this incident, scorch damage was caused to the door of a house.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Thankfully, it didn’t spread further but that was no thanks to whoever was responsible.

“Had this fire taken hold, an entire row could have been up. We could be dealing with multiple fatalities.

“No matter what the excuse or reason given in the perpetrators head, nothing can justify such actions. It’s an attack on the community and those responsible have no place in it.

“If you know anything about it, the motive, or who is behind it, please call us on 101, PM the page, or speak anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The reference number is 479 of 02/09/18.”
