
A woman involved in a collision with a tanker on the A1 on Tuesday afternoon says ‘it’s a miracle I’m alive’.
Emergency services were tasked to the scene of a serious collision involving an overturned tanker on the A1 carriageway between Loughbrickland and Banbridge.

The woman, speaking to Newry.LN, said she wanted to thank the lady who stopped and phoned the police.
She said: “She was an angel, she hugged me, even though I was covered in some fluid.
“She checked on me; she was there for a while and then I was taken to the hospital and didn’t see her any more.”
The woman also wanted to thank a female nurse who stopped on the other side of the road.
“I believe her partner took out the driver of the lorry,” she said. “I’m so grateful they helped so much. I was so shocked I didn’t know what to do.
“And I also want to send a massive thanks to the police and all paramedics – they were very gentle, nice and handled me with care. Special thanks to Adam who was with me in the ambulance and all hospital staff. With love and sore body but alive.”
NIAS confirmed they despatched three ambulance crews and a rapid response paramedic to the incident.
A spokesperson added: “One person was taken to Daisy Hill Hospital by ambulance and another person was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital by ambulance.”
